Hi everyone and welcome to my blog!
I'm Anirudh Ravichandran, a high school senior at BASIS Chandler. Please check out the "About Project" page and the "Research Proposal" page to get an idea of what this project is about! I will be blogging every week for the next ten weeks. This post just includes a few thoughts of mine before I get started at Game CoLab soon.
Due to the nature of this project, I do expect things to change as I go along. I wrote the proposal a few months ago and my goals with the project have already changed since.
In terms of presentable project goals, I hope to conduct surveys to get some quantitative information that would be useful to Game CoLab. My largest goal (assuming it matches what Game CoLab is looking for) is to help them grow an online community, using all the amazing connections they already know!
In terms of my own goals personally, I hope to make many connections and learn anything and everything I can!

Hello Ani! You seem to have a wonderful goal for your SRP and also, in a very popular and relevant field. What type of surveys are you hoping to conduct and what is your primary audience?
ReplyDeleteHi Rohini, thank you for your question!
DeleteI'm hoping to get a hold on some technical challenges (e.g. difficulty learning or building games themselves) that people in the industry are facing in Arizona. I want to approach both the business side and the developer side, but if it ends up being too broad, I will focus on the issues of the developers themselves. I may also scope the general market in the area to get a feel of the type of community here and also to see how it has evolved from last year. I hope that answers your question!
Cool project Ani. What potential do you see in the real world from your senior research project?
ReplyDeleteHi Kasyap, thank you for your question! I see the chance to create more community interaction online (the gaming community in Arizona, at least) and also to help Game CoLabs know where they might be able to focus their efforts.
DeleteSo you intend to send out these surveys to both schools and businesses, correct? Do you know specifically what businesses you'll be sending them out to? Could you give a specific example of question/s you will ask?
ReplyDeleteBeing a gamer who never really payed much attention to the business side or developing programs, I'm interested in seeing the kinds of responses you get as well as how this project changes throughout the next 10 weeks.
I probably won't be getting to schools, so I'm just going to send them to all the gaming companies/developers that Game CoLabs have as contacts. Essentially what I will be doing is helping them scope the market a little in continuation from last year (an intern from our school last year helped them scope the market), in addition, I've added some questions asking about some pain points they might have. Here's an example of a possible question:
DeleteWhat suggestions do you have for growing the game industry in Arizona? What tools
(incentives, space, training, etc.) do you feel would be the greatest benefit to your company?
