Hi everyone, and welcome back to week three!
During the third week, we discussed more about what was going to happen at the Phoenix Comicon in terms of getting volunteers and just more updates on the event (this is Game CoLab's largest upcoming event, so this is a common recurring theme you will probably hear every week).
The survey is ready to go (I decided to just do one long survey and have people finish that in one sitting rather than trying to hit them with multiple). I am holding back on sending it for the time being because we came to the conclusion that we should send information about comicon first, and then we can push out the survey after we have made contact with people.
I also updated their list of contacts.
The video is on hold at the moment; We might need to do a little more brainstorming and once that is done, we will need to figure out logistics and timing as to when we should actually do the video and whatnot.
Website: There's not much in terms of updates on this one, we've put this one on hold while I work on the other stuff. I've talked about my ideas with the website and we will get to it once the more pressing matters are handled.
Now you're probably wondering, why in the world did Ani title his blog post that way? As you may have probably guessed it.. that was one of the two books I read this week.
The first book I read was called Zero to One: Notes on Startups, or How to Build the Future by Peter Thiel (If you don't know who Peter Thiel is, I suggest you look him up). This book was fascinating and provided a unique perspective to entrepreneurship, as well as driving home the point about selling yourself and/or the product you are developing. As the title suggests, the book was not too complex in terms of language and read like a book of notes, making it easy to follow and more personable.
The second book I read was The Power of Broke: How Empty Pockets, a Tight Budget, and a Hunger for Success Can Become Your Greatest Competitive Advantage by Daymond John (Again, if you don't know who Daymond John is, I suggest you look him up too). This book was a fascinating perspective on what it is like to start with nothing and work your way up. The book is a collection of stories of different entrepreneurs (himself included), and how they climbed their way up. I promise you, it is not what you think it is. I'm sure at this point, you've made the assumption that everyone in this book starts off underprivileged and "bootstraps" their way up, but that is not true. Daymond has compiled a collection of stories that can relate to everyone, and the SHARK points he drives home are applicable to everyone.
In summary, here are the SHARK points:
Set a Goal.
Homework: Do your homework.
Adore what you do.
Remember -- You are the brand.
Keep Swimming.
With that said, that's it for week three, come back for more next week! Thanks!

Hey Ani! This SHARK motto is a real cool thing! I think this applies to every situation whenever you want to achieve something, and I think I will always keep this in the back of my mind whenever I am working on something!
